PHILADELPHIA, PA- The St. Joseph’s Prep Hawks dominated the Archbishop Ryan Raiders with a 15-1 win Monday night at Brady Field. Eleven players on the roster scored either one or more goals to give the Hawks a confident lead throughout the game.

Hawks’ sophomore Scott O’Connor set the bar early scoring two goals just two minutes into the game boosting the team’s offensive confidence.

By the end of the first quarter, the Hawks had a competitive 6-0 lead against the Raiders.

The Hawks maintained control of the field for the second quarter. Two quick goals were made by Nicholas Robak and Kevin Ortlieb with under three minutes remaining for the quarter. Another goal before the half would increase St. Joe’s Prep lead by 9.

Halftime worked best for the Raiders as they seemed to rally getting three chances in the offensive zone just minutes into the third. Mike Coley scored what would be Archbishop Ryan’s first and only goal of the game. The third quarter ended with the Hawks expanding their lead, 12-1.

The turn of events for the second half caused the Raiders' defense to step up tremendously. But to no avail, as the St. Joe’s offense dominated once again with Bennett Davis scoring the final goal of the game giving the Hawks the W.

Ryan junior captain Mikey Kalai stressed the importance of coming together as a team and key goals for improving moving forward.

“Definitely clearing, got to get our passes up. Ground balls is a big key, every time ball drops, we’re just not getting there. Hustle and really just self-discipline,” said Kalai.

With this outcome the Hawks improved to a 3-0 league record, but the season is early and according to senior captain Jake Davis, team building is an important component to his squad’s overall success.

“I think team chemistry is going to be important for the development of our team and developing our culture and who we want to be. It’s still early in the season so, as we get further, we’ll become closer as a team,” said Davis.

Next up, the Hawks are away facing St. Viator, this Friday, April 5th at 7pm. The Raiders are set to face Roman Catholic this Thursday April 4th at home.
