RADNOR, PA --What a day it was for the Archbishop Carroll Patriots’ lacrosse team when it hosted the Father Judge Crusaders in Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) action Monday, April 29, 2019. Possession did it as Carroll dominated Father Judge by a score of 14-3.

“I think we played hard in the first half,” said head coach Brian Santoleri. “Seniors had a great day. A bunch of them scored.”

This marked Senior Day for the twelve graduating members of Carroll’s squad. All starters in this crucial game were seniors. Heading the list of scorers were attack/lefty Fynn McNulty and junior attack Andy Borkowski with four goals each.

“Helping the team find an open man helped,” said McNulty.

With this outcome, the Patriots improved their record to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the PCL. The only league loss was to Cardinal O’Hara.

“We’re having a good year,” said Santoleri.

Senior midfielder Sean Kearney, senior attack Ben Dimascio, Borkowski and junior midfielder Dominick Burke tallied a goal apiece during the first quarter. McNulty concluded the quarter with a 2-0 sprint of his own.

McNulty continued his run in the second quarter and Borkowski followed with two more. Junior midfielders Zane Walsh and Max Ritter both found the net and Carroll secured an 11-0 halftime advantage.

The second half turned out to be a different story. Father Judge adjusted to Carroll’s style of play and settled down. Borkowski went for another goal before Judge’s sophomore attack Joe Santilli registered a goal to break that Patriot streak. Junior midfielder Gregg Tyndall and Liam Childs also scored for the Crusaders and McNulty tallied one last goal for Carroll to call it a game.

“I think our offense picked it up during the second half,” said Santilli.

Carroll has its work cut out as the season comes to a close. The Patriots take on defending PCL champion La Salle College High School today followed by St. Joseph’s Prep, (8-1) league, next week.

"I feel really good,” said McNulty. “We’re going to tough it out. They’re going to be two good games. We’ll keep our heads up.”

"I think we’re prepared for them,” said Santoleri. “We’re going to have to play hard.”

Father Judge also has some tough matches ahead including Friday against rival Archbishop Ryan.
