CONSHOHOCKEN--On Friday, October 25th number two seed and defending champion Archbishop Carroll (9-1) took on the number three seed Bonner-Prendergast (8-3) on the turf at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken to battle it out for a spot in the Philadelphia Catholic League championship.

The game was tightly contested and scoreless throughout regulation, forcing a 7-on-7 overtime. Emotions were running high all game and both teams had several opportunities to score but could not capitalize.

It was not until 10 minutes into the second overtime that Carroll was awarded their second corner. That is when junior forward Julia Kingsbury seized the moment by scoring the golden goal on a pass from Carly Bateman to seal the 1-0 victory for Archbishop Carroll.

“It was a great pass to me, and Carleigh Conners did a great job of blocking them out, and I took the shot as quick as I could,” said Kingsbury.

Bonner-Prendergast faced only two losses and garnered 7 shutouts during the regular season.

“We came a really long way from where we started back in August, although it didn’t end the way we wanted to,  we had a great season and we finished out strong,” said Bonner-Prendergast junior captain Reagan Dolan.

“We played hard and we did a lot right, but anybody could have won this game and in the end, it was one mistake that they capitalized on that cost us,” said Bonner-Prendergast head coach Joanne Dolan.
