The Lions came out strong winning the first set 25-12 and the second 25-19. The third set proved to be a  turning point for the Patriots (25-16), whose only loss came earlier this season at the hands of O'Hara (3-1).  

It seemed that memory jogged a loss Carroll would soon prove they would like to forget.

On the golden stage, with the championship on the line, the Patriots gave it their all coming away with a 3-2, come-from-behind victory. 

The fourth set was an extreme battle of skill, will, strength and sheer exhaustion from both sides. O'Hara held the lead within one point at least three times during the set (27-26, 28-27, 29-28). In what looked like a never-ending match, the Patriots took the fourth set 31-29.

Once the fifth set began all fans in attendance were on their feet to see who would be crowned champion. The Patriots quickly took the lead and never looked back to their 15-8 set victory and achieving their fourth consecutive PCL Title. 

First Team All-Catholic junior defensive specialist Meghan McCann scored the winning point.

Carroll head coach Brian McCann, said his team left it all on the court.

 “(My team) Played with the heart of a champion and you can’t ever underestimate the heart of a champion,” said McCann.

“We had great senior leadership, players that don’t quit, and players who have been to the championship three times in a row,” said McCann. 

O'Hara had a stellar undefeated season and this match was definitely a testament to the skill and mindset of both teams.  Lions head coach Bill Collins lauded his teams efforts.

“We worked hard and played great all year, we made some mistakes but Carroll had a lot to do with it (winning the match),” said Collins.
