DEVON, PA-- Another day, another impressive win for La Salle College High School. The Explorers faced off against an undefeated Devon Prep team and cruised their way to a 19-2 victory over the Tide. With this win, La Salle takes sole possession of first place in the Philadelphia Catholic League and remains the last undefeated team in league standings.

This is La Salle’s second 18+ goal performance in less than a week after defeating Lansdale Catholic 18-3 last Thursday and their fourth such performance of the season.

The Explorer’s (7-0 PCL), got off to a relatively slow start compared to their usual dominant standards. They managed to take a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, but they struggled to find the back of the net in the second. Devon Prep (5-1 PCL), struck first in the second quarter after taking a man up advantage thanks to a La Salle penalty, making it a 5-1 game. La Salle would respond with two goals of their own, both coming from the stick of Charlie Huntley, but that is all they would muster as they took a 7-1 lead into the half.

The first half was filled with wasted opportunities for La Salle as they missed several of their open looks at the net, leaving quite a few goals on the field. In the second half however, the floodgates opened as the Explorers made good on their opportunities and shot the ball on course.

La Salle scored eight unanswered goals in the third quarter and another three in the fourth before Devon’s Dan Brown was finally able to respond, scoring the team’s second goal of the game with just 2:38 remaining. The Explorer’s Leyton Bracken would then put the cherry on top of their victory, scoring one last time with less than two minutes remaining in the game, sealing the 19-2 win.

In total, nine different players - Andrew Kelly, Charlie Huntley, Franky Fix, Jack Vandegrift, Peter Oppenheimer, Tim Mehlmann, Mason Lazasz, Leyton Bracken, and Max Monzo - scored in the second half for La Salle as they turned a somewhat lackluster first half into another dominant victory.
