PHILADELPHIA – On Thursday, November 3, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and Academy of Notre Dame girls’ varsity soccer teams faced-off with the 2022 Inter-Ac title on the line. Springside Chestnut Hill won the game 3-0, securing the league title. The win also marked head coach Maria Kosmin’s 100th career victory with the Blue Devils.

“The one hundredth win is great but to me what these players accomplished, I couldn't have done it without them,” said Kosmin.

The first half it was clear that Springside Chestnut Hill was attacking at full speed.  By the fifteenth minute, after multiple shots on goal, SCH senior Bella Brown put the ball in the back of the net. After scoring a goal to take the lead Springside Chestnut Hill did not let up, maintaining their attacking strategy with ball possession on the offensive half of the field until halftime.

“We've been working up to this moment for the past 3 years, we've been undefeated in the inter-ac, we just knew that this was our last game in the inter-ac as seniors we were really excited to finish it out, we've worked for this,” said Brown.

Despite the Blue Devils staunch defense, the Irish were able to make a few offensive runs but could not capitalize on any opportunities. It didn't take long for Springside Chestnut Hill in the second half to strike again, as Abby Udowenko found the back of the net ten minutes into the final stanza. Springside Chestnut Hill did not let up, maintaining their offensive push with Brown scoring her second and team's third goal of the game a mere twelve minutes after Udowenko’s goal.

“In the second half our offense just kept going and going, we didn't let them score, we just wanted to run it up even more to end strong,” said SCH senior Lisa McIntyre
