The Patriots fell 21-13 to McDevitt this past Friday night. Carroll’s offense found success in the ground game. The rushing attack of Rahsul Faison and Christian Smith combined for 15 carries and 100 yards, but turnovers doomed the Patriots last night. Carroll’s quarterback, Stephen Honick, recorded 11 completions for 112-yards and 2 touchdowns. His favorite target of the night was junior slot man Jay Smiley who hauled in 5 catches for 58-yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Carlon Brown also had a touchdown catch.

The rest of the Honick stat line was not so pretty as the Lancers jumped in front of 5 passes for interceptions. The sixth and final Carroll turnover came late in the fourth quarter. The Patriots trailed 14-7 and were driving down the field, but a Christian Smith fumble was scooped and scored by McDevitt, and that was all she wrote.
Despite the turnovers, Carroll only fell by 8 points. The Patriots’ defense held tough for the majority of the game, but the McDevitt offense had too many chances, and it was only a matter of time until they broke through.

Defensive standouts for the Patriots were junior linebacker Rich Melito who had a leaping interception early in the first quarter, and senior linebacker Harry Rohlfing who recorded two sacks throughout the game.
