On a cold and windy afternoon in Northeast Philadelphia, Archbishop Wood’s senior quarterback Anthony Russo lit up the field for more 200-yards and five touchdowns.

There was not much going for the Raiders at all on offense or defense as they were only able to put up one really good drive before failing to convert on a fourth down.

On the defensive side that flood gates opened early as Russo started to take quick passes for small chunks at a time until he was able to hit a homerun on a 41-yard ball early in the first.

On the defensive side that flood gates opened early as Russo started to take quick passes for small chunks at a time until he was able to hit a homerun on a 41-yard ball early in the first.

The Rutgers University commit was only getting started as he finished the first half with four more touchdowns with the longest being a 67-yarder, which occurred three minutes before halftime.

Despite the loss, not all is lost for Archbishop Ryan. Their defensive line did have a strong game, keeping the usually strong Vikings’ running game to minimal yards per carry aside from one drive in the 3rd quarter where junior running back, Jalen Reynolds, was able to get free for a 40-yard score.

The defensive line for the Raiders consisted of senior end Dylan Dopkin and A.J. McAleer as well as senior tackle Liam Boylan. Ryan’s nose tackle spot was rotated between senior Sean Devine and junior Andrew Obuchowicz.

“We just gotta keep working in practice,” McAleer said. “We know what we got to do and if we get to play them again I think our goal is to keep them under triple digits in rushing yards.”

McAleer and Dopkin are both captains on the team and they look to push the rest of the guys to get on the same page as they keep moving forward.

“If we just get everyone to play on the same level, it will make things a lot easier just knowing we all can do our jobs right,” Dopkin said.

The Raiders look to rebound from this loss as they take on the Monsignor Bonner Friars at Upper Darby next Saturday.
