The Lansdale Catholic girl's tennis team took the title of District 12 Champions on Thursday afternoon. The team defeated Masterman with a final score of 5-0. Their next match is on Tuesday at Arthur Ashe Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center in Philadelphia.

The team worked diligently during practice this past week in order to defeat their opponent and improve their game.

Molly Smith, who plays first singles for Lansdale Catholic, said, "I think that we really practiced hard during the week and we worked on our strategy going into the match as well as ball placement."

During Thursday’s match, fellow players watched their teammates and cheered them on from the upper deck of the tennis complex. Maddie Baldini, a senior on the team, said, "I was really excited that we won District 12. Everyone played to their best ability and I am so proud to call these girls my teammates. We go into each game like it’s our last and I think that's what keeps us going."

The team is thrilled about all they have accomplished so far and are optimistic about their future.

"I think at this point our goal is to get to states in Hershey, but our main focus is on the qualifying match Tuesday,” said Nadia Schimony, a senior who plays first doubles. “I think as long as we take everything point by point we should do just fine. The seniors (6 of the 7 girls playing on Tuesday's match) are trying to stretch out this season as long as we can while we still have it. And my partner, Jackie Campbell, (the only underclassmen) has done an amazing job helping us accomplish our goal."
