In The First Round Of The PAISAA Tournament GA Girls's Volleyball Win 3-0 against Academy of The New Church
Fort Washington - The number one seed Germantown Academy took on the number 8 seed Academy of The New Church at home during the First Round of the PAISAA Tournament.
Germantown Academy dominated the three set win, (25-12), (25-16), (25-10).
Coach Dan Sullivan took over as head coach for the Patriots in 2013. This is only the fourth year for the fall volleyball team at GA.
"They have been getting more and more successful every year," said Sullivan.
Junior Carly Shimota had a season and team high ten kills, plus four digs, one block and one ace.
Senior captain Carly Pruitt had 7 kills, three digs and two blocks.
Junior Emma Rapp had 7 kills, three digs and two blocks.
Sophomore Jenna Schumann ahd 7 kills, one block and three aces.
Junior Abby Starzecky had one kill and two aces.
Junior Katie DePietro had one kill and senior captain Erin Lindahl completed her night with with seven digs and three aces.
Sophomore center Cat Polisano dished out 27 assists, three digs and a team high eight aces.
When asked how Sullivan felt about his team, he did not hesitate to answer.
"As a team they are the best," said Sullivan. " I tell people I couldn't have hand-picked a better team, hand-picked a better bunch of girls, of human beings out of our school that I have playing for me everyday."
"My Tri-Captains, Erin, Carly and Grace it's their second year as captains. I didn't have any seniors last year. I didn't graduate anyone so that has been a plus."
"Their leadership has been unbelievable and the supporting cast is just out of this world."
Sullivan is definitely proud of his Patriots and rightly so; they have maintained a 11-1 record and a flawless 6-0 league record this season.
The Patriots continue league play on Tuesday, October 27th when they face Springside Chestnut Hill Academy at Springside.
