VILLANOVA - Episcopal Academy Girls’ Field Hockey retained their unblemished record with a victory against the Academy of Notre Dame Thursday afternoon.
With playoffs just around the corner, Episcopal Academy Girls’ Field Hockey team (16-0), (7-0) continues to stay focused with win after win.
Thursday’s game against the Academy of Notre Dame (11-3), (5-2) proved no different, as EA remained fluid from the opening whistle against a very good opponent.
Excellent short passing from EA’s defenders and midfielders led to a smooth transition of the ball.
Junior Corrine Zanolli scored the first goal; followed by two more goals from senior Colby Gallagher and freshman Maddie Rehak, giving EA a 3-0 lead over the Irish in the first half of the game.
Zanolli scored yet again with only 1:16 remaining in the game resulting in the 4-0 shutout.
"The team played with such intensity today, and stayed poised throughout. We did a great job capitalizing on our scoring opportunities," said Episcopal Academy Head Field Hockey Coach Gina Buggy.
EA faces Springside Chestnut Hill Academy next Tuesday at home.
