CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND: THE PANDAS FACE CARDINAL O'HARA FOR THE TITLE

Bonner-Prendie Field Hockey Advances to PCL Final

SPRINGFIELD- The third-seeded Pandas played aggressive no-nonsense field hockey yesterday against No. 2 seed Archbishop Carroll.  The semifinal game was played at Cardinal O’Hara High School.

The Pandas were able to contain Carroll in the mid-field only allowing two shots on goal.  Kerri Quinn scored off of a slick cross ball distributed by Riley Dolan to give the Pandas the lead at half time 1-0. As time expired in the first half, Bonner & Prendie had to endure the onslaught of five consecutive corners before its defense could clear the ball.

A second half goal by Carroll’s Gracie McClatchy, tied the score 1-1.

Bonner & Prendie executed the game plan and scored for the second time with 9 minutes left on the clock.  A shot into the circle by Riley Dolan allowed Carly Brosious to get a tip on the ball putting it into the back of the cage.

Led by seniors Kacie Farrell & Lisa Tomasetti and goalie Maggie Baldini, the Bonner-Prendie defense was solid throughout the entire game.  With the help from juniors Casey Rafferty and Riley Dolan, they were able to thwart a few breakaways by Carroll and clear the ball from the defensive circle. The Pandas won 2-1 advancing them to the PCL Championship.

Bonner-Prendie face No. 1 seed Cardinal O’Hara, a 9-0 winner over Archbishop Wood, for the Championship Title on Thursday at Neumann University.
