CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – Anyone who has had the privilege to watch both Episcopal Academy and Germantown Academy play this season would without a doubt agree that both groups of girls should be granted the PAISAA title.

However, at the end of every game there can only be one winner, and on Saturday evening, it was Germantown Academy that prevailed victorious.

The game remained scoreless, until Patriot’s sophomore Annelise Peterson took a long shot that sailed right on the turf by Episcopal’s goalkeeper, Hannah Moriarity, with a little over two minutes left in the game.

“Both teams were fighting, it was a really intense game both teams were playing their whole entire heart out and it was the best feeling ever,” said Peterson. “Being in the dog pile at the end was the best part.”

With two Episcopal defenders around her, Peterson said she was able to get just the right amount of touch on the outside of the ball to put her team up 1-0.

Germantown’s head coach, Christopher Nelson, was so proud that all of his girls’ hard work had finally paid off.

“They worked so hard for so long and I feel like we have been so close for a couple years and we can finally cash in,” said coach Nelson. “I thought the whole group of them were so tough and so focused right down until the end. I’m very proud and so happy for them.”

Peterson, who just transferred to Germantown this year, explained that this win was a shared accomplishment for the entire Patriot family.

“Every single game we say ‘play for our seniors’ and this was the happiest moment to do it for them, but also, to do it for our team, for the coaches, and for our school,” said Peterson.
