CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – A little over a week ago, Haverford senior Alec Haas said, “The dream is always to win the Inter-Ac championship.” Now, not only are Haas and his teammates Inter-Ac champions, but they can also refer to themselves as defenders of the 2015 Pennsylvania Independent School’s Athletic Association Title.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, The Haverford School took on Malvern Prep at the Proving Grounds in a battle for the state championship. Besides a few missed corner kick opportunities, both teams showed their strength on defense limiting each other’s chances to attack the goal.

With around 33 minutes left in the first half, Haverford senior, Connor Gregory, took a shot at the far post – which deflected off of a Malvern defender and found its way past their goalie and into the net.

This sole “freak” goal of the game is what edged the Fords over the Friars in their 1-0 victory.

This was the third PAISAA championship victory for Haverford’s soccer program in the past five years.
