NORRISTOWN, PA- It was a match-up between brothers. The first inaugural Powell bowl was held this past Saturday afternoon at Norristown High School.

The Norristown Eagles, coached by younger brother Jason hosted the Archbishop Carroll Patriots, coached by older brother Joe Powell.

It was Joe’s Patriots who came out on top 20-7.

Carroll was led by the three headed rushing attack of Rich Melito, Christian Smith, and Rahsul Faison.

It was a defensive struggle for the first half, until Patriot’s running back Christian Smith ran in a touchdown from 15 yards out to end the first half to give Carroll a 6-0 lead going in to the locker room.

The scored remained the same until the final 10 minutes of the game, when Norristown’s Khalif Sinclair hauled in a touchdown pass to give the Eagles a 7-6 advantage.

Carroll responded quickly with a touchdown of their own. Slot receiver Jay Smiley took a hand-off 42 yards as the Patriots regained the lead.

Matt DellaDonna had an interception on the ensuing Eagles possession, the interception led to a 10-yard touchdown run by Patriot’s sophomore running back Rahsul Faison to seal the game for Carroll.
