This Year's Inter-Ac Champs claim 2015 PAISAA Title

BRYN MAWR, PA- The Episcopal Academy Field Hockey Team ended its perfect 24-0 record claiming the 2015 PAISAA Title.

The Churchwomen beat Agnes Irwin 4-0 in the Championship tournament held November 21 at Bryn Mawr College.

This is the second year in a row EA has earned the title and its third win in four years.

Head Coach Gina Buggy, who has been at the team's helm for 29 years, touts her squad's talents and cohesiveness throughout the entire season.

“It’s a lot of pressure to go throughout the season undefeated and so you really have to play hard together as a team if you don’t want to be up-set. Agnes Irwin is a good team and we knew that we’d have to bring our best today in order to win, and I’m proud that we were able to do that," said Buggy.

Junior Corinne Zanolli, a Stanford commit, scored a hattrick for her squad. Zanolli attributes her goals to the entire team.

“Everything that entered into goal, well, I’m just the lucky one who got to put them in,” said Zanolli.  “It starts with the defense, and then the 'mids' do all the work to get it up to us forwards. It’s a real, team collective effort. We really wanted to do this for our seniors. We’ve had a really great season and that’s come from putting in so much work as a team, and we, as juniors and underclassmen, really wanted to end on a high note. We’re going to miss [our seniors] a lot next year."

Senior Angela Rocca scored as well and freshman goalkeeper Caroline Kelly finished the game with a shut-out.

“It’s just a lot of teamwork. Talking to my defenders and having them pick up a lot of players really helps me out. It’s really a team effort. It just feels really great, we’ve been working so hard this season and I know that everyone put their hearts out there, we played really well and I’m really proud of everybody,” said Kelly.

EA's stand-out field hockey team will be graduating nine seniors this year: Princeton commit Maddie Bacskai, Duke commit Margaux Paolino, Corinne Kneizys, University of NC commit Courtnie Williamson, Cornell commit Colby Gallagher, Darby O’Grady, Jax Curry, Angela Rocca and team manager Grace Dugery.
