Germantown Academy 2015-16 Boys Varsity Basketball Team
WASHINGTON, DC- In the consolation bracket of the Bishop Walker Invitational Tourney in Washington DC over this past weekend the Patriots shot 65% from the field while scoring a school high (at least during Coach Fenerty's time) 95 points in racing to a 95-56 victory over Sandy Springs HS of Virginia.
Senior point guard Devon Goodman scored a career high of 29 points in just 3 quarters of play.
GA players scoring their first varsity points were: Andrew Towne (5 pts), Miraj Dudhat (4 pts) , Brian Basile (2 pts), Josh Brownstein (1 pt), and Jonathan Haynes Jr. (2 pts).
The Patriots faced a very tall task in their final game of the tourney at St. Alban's on Saturday evening.
Their opponent, the Maret School of DC, features twin towers in 7 footer Luke Garza and 6'10' EJ Jarvis.
GA Senior Bailey Whitman's two made free throws sent the game into Overtime but the Patriots fell short 81-76.
Though most of the GA starters were plagued by foul trouble throughout the game, Junior Evan-Eric Longino (37 points) and Senior Devon Goodman (30 points) notched career highs as the Patriots battled valiantly.
This tournament was the first time that a GA team played with a 30 second shot clock and strict college rules.
Devon Goodman was named to the All Tournament team and the GA team was awarded the Oliver "Skip" Grant Sportsmanship Award.
