La Salle and Archbishop Ryan began their conference play in the Philadelphia Catholic League Tuesday at La Salle’s home court. Heading into the game, La Salle was undefeated, having won their seven previous non-conference games. Meanwhile, Archbishop Ryan was on a three-game win streak bringing their total preseason record to 3-1.

Both teams put out experienced starting lineups containing three seniors and two juniors, all of which were hungry for a win.

The game started off with La Salle scoring some quick points off free throws to get themselves ahead. Then, with seconds remaining in the first quarter, La Salle senior Ryan McTamney buried a buzzer beater to bring the score to 12-5 La Salle. From then on, La Salle continued to widen the lead, finishing the first half ahead 28-10.

What didn’t help Archbishop Ryan was a collection of technical fouls and personal fouls throughout the game that were committed by both their head coach and players. La Salle capitalized on the ensuing free throws each time to increase their tally and ultimately win the game 57-37.

The star performers on the night were La Salle’s Ryan McTamney (seventeen points) and Jarrod Stukes who had ten points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

La Salle’s next PCL game is January 4TH against Father Judge, while Archbishop Ryan’s next PCL game is January 3rd against Bonner-Prendergast.
