PHILADELPHIA- At West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Archbishop Wood turned up the power in the second half this past Tuesday to grab the "W" away from home.

In a great game of basketball, complete with screaming fans and enthusiastic cheerleaders, both West and Wood played a dead even first half. With a first quarter score of 16-14 West, and a halftime score of 28 apiece, there was quite a chess match on the court.

"Going into the second half, we just knew that we were going to start hitting our shots," said Wood senior #24 Mike Hirschmann. "We knew we were going to be able to stop them on defense, especially with Matt Cerruti covering their star point guard so well. We just came out in the second half confident and ready to play."

Apparently, that confidence was the key move. The third quarter began, and before you knew it, Tyree Pickron, Andrew Funk, and Matt Cerruti were all draining three-point shots in a series of productive plays, putting Wood up by 13 points with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Wood won, with a final score of 77-55.

Wood now sports an 8-2 overall record (with their losses coming from Red Mountain in Arizona and Wheeling Central Catholic in West Virginia, both neutral tournament games), and a 2-0 record in the Philadelphia Catholic League.
