LANSDALE, PA - Taylor Herd began her basketball career at Lansdale Catholic when she transferred from Quakertown High School at the beginning of her sophomore year.

"Knowing my aspirations to play collegiately, I made the decision to transfer to Lansdale Catholic at the end of my freshman year in seeing the academic and athletic opportunities LC had to offer. I was especially attracted to the competitiveness of the Philadelphia Catholic League," Herd said.

After a competitive sophomore season as a Crusader, Herd faced a serious injury to her right knee and was unable to play basketball during her junior high school season. Herd fought through physical therapy and was cleared in time to play during her AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) summer season. Unfortunately, that summer she suffered a second tear to her ACL.

"I injured my right knee while going for a steal in an AAU tournament during the summer prior to my senior year,” Herd said.

She was operated on this past August for the second time and with the help of her family, friends, and faith has fought through her intense recovery.

Despite her back to back torn ACL, Herd was offered a scholarship to continue her basketball career at Quinnipiac University in the fall.

"What attracted me to Quinnipiac was the competitiveness and success of their women's basketball program and, academically, QU's Communications program, which I am now enrolled in. I am most excited to become a member of the Bobcat family," Herd said. She will join her new teammates during their summer training in July when she is fully recovered.

Although she will not be able to return to the court during Lansdale Catholic's current basketball season, Herd is still proud to be a member of the team and has high expectations for this season.

"We said at the very beginning of the season that our goal as a team was to play in the PCL championship game,” Herd said. “We recently played Neumann-Goretti, a very competitive program, and were able to hold them within 8 points at the half. We unfortunately fell short in that game, but the scoreboard didn't reflect the passion or intensity we played with. Our performance in that game definitely got me excited about the rest of our season.”
