Conwell-Egan Tops Lansdale Catholic

LANSDALE, PA-The Lansdale Catholic Crusaders [LCC] boys’ basketball team (2-9) hosted the Conwell-Egan Catholic Eagles [CEC],(10-4) boys’ basketball team in a hard fought game Wednesday night.

The jump ball went to Conwell-Egan and after a two-minute back and forth game; the first two points were finally put on the board by CEC and that lead was never taken away from them for the remainder of the game.

LCC’s Ryan Braun put the Crusaders in the game with their first two points. With 2:08 left in the first period, the teams were tied but that quickly changed with a three-point shot by Egan’s Eric Esposito.

Heading into the second period, the Eagles led LCC 14-7. The Crusaders were not going to go down without a fight as they started to put more points on the scoreboard.  With 4:30 left in the second period Braun put up a three-pointer for LCC making the score 14-16.

The Eagle’s fiery offense took over before halftime resulting in a 24-14 lead before both teams headed to the locker rooms.

The third period was eight minutes of catch-up for the Crusaders. The Eagle’s offense could not be stopped, putting a big gap in the score heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth period was an intense and foul heavy eight minutes including 11 fouls on LCC and one technical foul.

With 2:09 left in the game and a score of 32-43, the Crusaders were still fighting back. They put four more points on the board.

Unfortunately in the end, the Crusaders were no match for Egan's offense. The Eagles defeated the Crusaders 49-37.
