PHILADELPHIA- It was a showdown between the first and second ranked Philadelphia Catholic League teams at Neumann- Goretti on Friday night as the Saints took on the Archbishop Carroll Patriots.

Both teams entered the game with a perfect 7-0 league record.

It was an extremely high scoring game, as the teams combined for 173 points, but Neumann got the best of Carroll 98-75.

The Saints were fueled by the scoring of Zane Martin who had a team high 22 points. Quade Green and Rasheed Browne each added 20 points, and Dhamir Crosby-Roundtree dropped 18.

The scoring came from the usual suspects for Carroll. The big three of Daly Sharkey and Rigsby combined for 60 of the Patriots 75 points.

Ryan Daly led all scorers with 33 points, with 23 of those points coming in the first half. Josh Sharkey had another near triple double with 17 points 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Rigsby added 10 points. Miks Antoms had a solid game of 12 points, but the lack of depth for Carroll was very evident.

“We’re going to see those guys again and we’ll play much better defensively,” said Daly. “We just have to be sure to do a better job of slowing them down in transition. We definitely won’t give up that many points again.”

Carroll looks to get back on track Tuesday night as they face La Salle.

Neumann-Goretti play against St. Joe’s Prep on Wednesday night.
