WAYNE, PA – Archbishop John Carroll High School hosted La Salle College High School Tuesday night. Carroll returned to the court after a high scoring battle against Neumann-Goretti Friday that ultimately ended with Carroll on the short and ending their unbeaten record. Carroll showed resilience and was lifted in their 66-52 victory against La Salle by an outstanding performance from senior, Josh Sharkey who was 100 percent from the free throw line and 19-28 from the floor.

In the first eight minutes of the game it was the Explorers playing tough and physical. LaSalle kept possession of the ball and defensively were on top of Carroll with the exception of senior, Josh Sharkey.

Sharkey was covered most of the night by LaSalle junior, Jarrod Stukes, but Stukes was no match for the speed and ball handling skills of Sharkey. When the two of them were on the floor, the battle was relentless and despite Stukes’ tremendous efforts, Sharkey and the Patriots battered the Explorers on the hardwood.

Seniors, John Rigsby and Ryan Daly also had nights that are well worth mention in the match against the Explorers. Rigsby hit three from field goal range and was six of seven from the free throw line. Rigsby managed six of nine from the line and had four points shooting from the floor.

Ryan McTammy, the six-foot, five senior from La Salle played well from the key, getting 14 but struggled from the foul line going only one for four on the night.

Along with the high scoring of Sharkey, La Salle just couldn’t stay out of trouble and Carroll capitalized on that, going 24 of 28 from the line.

After the final buzzer, Stukes and and Sharkey met in front of the scorers table and hugged it out, topping off the great battle over the rock with a display of sportsmanship that took the game to the next level and made watching this battle, that had just taken place on the hardwood, all the more enjoyable.

This Friday, La Salle will visit Archbishop Wood and Carroll will also play away vs. Conwell-Egan. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7PM.
