Neumann-Goretti Team Introductions

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA – Surprise…Neumann-Goretti (PCL,11-0) wins again.

With only two more games left in the 2015-2016 season, it’s only appropriate for the Saints to add another “W” to their flawless league record. This afternoon, Neumann-Goretti took on Archbishop Ryan (PCL,6-5) at home in a physical match-up resulting in a score of 91-75.

In the first quarter, Neumann-Goretti started as the do most games, totally dominating on the offensive side of the ball with junior Quade Green and senior Zane Martin taking charge on the floor. Martin scored two early baskets and Green added a three later in the first to put the Saints up 14-4 with a little over four minutes to play.

Although Ryan was down by over 20 points going into the half, the Raiders came out running a more up-tempo offense led by Amin Bryant who scored on a breakaway four minutes into the third. Scoring 5 unanswered points, the Raiders forced Neumann-Goretti’s coach Carl Arrigale to call a timeout to get his team back in order.

From here on out Green and Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree found their mojo and the show began. Cosby-Roundtree slammed back-to-back dunks - one being perfectly set-up by Green – to end the third quarter with a score of 67-49.

Ryan made a late push towards the end of the game with Ed Cahoe and Amin Bryant scoring much needed three-pointers. However, the blatant effort wasn’t enough as the Saints went on to win their 11th straight PCL game 91-75.

Two games remain for both teams:

Archbishop Ryan will play this Friday Feb. 5 away vs. Cardinal O’Hara (7PM) and will end their season at home Sunday, Feb. 7 vs. Lansdale Catholic (1:30PM).

Neumann-Goretti will also play away this Friday vs. Father Judge (7PM) and will look to complete a perfect PCL season at home on Sunday vs. Conwell-Egan (2:30PM).
