PHILADELPHIA - Germantown Academy's boys' 4x400 meter relay team left its mark on the Penn Relays by not only winning the Inter-Ac competition, but by also breaking a 40-year old school record on Saturday.

K.J. Cartwright '18, Alejandro Gonzalez '17, Kyle Garland '18 and Devon Goodman '16 finished the race in 3:26.09, breaking the 1976 record of 3:27.64 (R. Cannon, F. Tornetta , D. King, J. Murphy). Garland ran the fastest split of the foursome (50.38).

Goodman, who anchored the team, was cheered on by his future Penn basketball teammates as he sped down the stretch.

The future Quaker has been no stranger to setting track records. Earlier in the week, Goodman took possession of the 110M high hurdle record, which had previously stood since 1978. Now he has another record, this one to share with his fellow Patriots.

Goodman, Garland and Carwright came less than a second away from breaking the 4x100M record on Friday with Jon Haynes '19, but the team got disqualified after Cartwright lost his balance and fell into another lane while making the exchange.

Garland competed in the High School Boys High Jump earlier in the day and cleared 6-5 to finish in ninth.
