NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA-Trailing 5-1 at halftime, the Patriots found a way to claw back into Friday's Inter-Ac League showdown against host Episcopal Academy and to win, 8-7, thanks to a game-winning goal from Justin Connors '17 with just 14 seconds remaining.

The Churchmen, who edged GA, 12-10, back on April 12, opened up the scoring early in the first quarter only to have GA respond to even things up at 1-1 at the 8:55 mark in the first quarter. EA notched another goal late in the period to take a 2-1 lead.

The second quarter seemed to be a standstill until EA scored at the 3:23 mark only to add two more, the last one right at the horn, which required a referees meeting only to determine that it was a good goal which extended EA’s lead to 5-1 at the half.

The third quarter started slow until the Patriots earned their second goal at the 4:54 mark. The visitors then quickly tallied two more goals to pull within one only to see the Churchmen respond with one of their own to take a 6-4 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the Patriots were energized by two quick goals to tie the game at 6-6 with 9:44 to play. GA then scored to take its first lead of the game with 8:42 to play. EA later tied the game with 2:37 to play.

Late in the game, both squads had opportunities to take the lead, but it was the Patriots that finally delivered the decisive goal. GA gained possession and called a timeout with :50 seconds to play. Matt Ho '16 ran at the cage from behind the goal with 14 seconds to play and found Justin Connors '17 in front of the net, who scored the game-winning goal with just eight seconds to play.

Jimmy McAfee '16 led GA in scoring with three goals and one assist. GA netminder Leroy Moser '17 had eight saves in the game. Aiding Moser were Jack McHugh '19, Tripp Gundlach '17, Tanner Long '18, Pat McGettigan '17 and Nick D’Ambrosio '16, who collectively held EA to two goals in the second half.
