Softball: Penn Charter Clinches Inter-Ac Title With Victory Over AIS

PHILADELPHIA – On Wednesday, Penn Charter claimed the rights to the 2016 Inter-Ac Title with a 13-3 victory over Agnes Irwin in 5 innings.

The Quakers clinched the Inter-Ac Title at (11-0) last Wednesday with 13-3 win over Agnes Irwin in five innings.

Junior ace pitcher Faith Fenton pitched the entire game having four hits, three walks, two earned runs and three strikeouts.

The hitting powerhouse included seniors Ayanna Matthews (4-for-4 with two RBI’s), Eileen Hennessy (2-for-3, a double and 4 RBI’s), Dev Loftus (2 RBI’s), and Zoe Neefe with a two-run homer to deep left field.

Junior Bridgette Gutpelet went three-for-four and a triple and sophomore Grace Stansfield went two-for-four with a double and two RBI’s.

The next day, Penn Charter traveled to Episcopal Academy to finish out their league play. In the bottom of the seventh inning, in a major upset, the Quakers surrendered a run and lost 1-0 to The Churchwomen.

This Thursday, the Quakers will host the winner of today’s game- Academy of Notre Dame vs. Baldwin in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools state playoffs.

The Inter-Ac Champs claimed the state title last year and are looking for a repeat performance.
