PHILADELPHIA- In her last game as a Patriot, her last game as the sole senior player on her varsity squad, team captain Betsy Prezioso scored her 200th goal.

Prezioso has been a scoring powerhouse for her team and this game was no exception scoring 5 goals against the Blue Devils.

“I immediately felt very happy, but I also had a sense of relief when the ball went in the net. I was nervous for the game, and I was glad that I could relax. Ali Crump ’17, who I have been playing with since middle school, was behind the goal, and she was the first teammate I saw. She ran towards me, arms wide open, with an “AAHH!” look on her face, and hugged me, and the rest of the team came sprinting over, where we formed a quick huddle and giddily celebrated together,” said Prezioso.

It was a bitter sweet moment for the Harvard commit, knowing this game at Springside Chestnut Hill would be her last for this season.

“The goal was special, but I think the thing that stood out to me the most about this game was the way we played as a team,” said Prezioso.

“Our low defense did a great job collapsing and sliding, something we had been working on in practice over the last couple of weeks, our middies hustled extensively on draw controls and played with tenacity in the middle of the field, and our attack was patient and effective.”

The game was tied 5-5 at the half, but despite their efforts, GA lost 11-10 to the Blue Devils in overtime.

Ali Crump '17 notched four points of her own in the loss with three goals and one assist. Cammie Korman '19 scored the Patriots' other two goals.

Before the final horn sounded, Prezioso added one more assist for a combined six points on the day.

As a main anchor for her team all season long, Prezioso holds this day as one she will always cherish.

“What I’ll remember most about this last Inter-ac game is not my 200th goal, but rather the spirit and unity that we had as a team. We have a really special group of girls this year, and the bond, memories, and laughs we shared are what I will carry with me forever,” said Prezioso.

Spoken like a true Patriot.
