Lions on Better End of the Stick in Game Suspension, Defeat La Salle in Six Innings.

SPRINGFIELD PA- Monday’s game between Cardinal O’Hara and La Salle at La Salle College High School was suspended due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. The game only lasted six innings with Cardinal O’Hara topping La Salle 4-1.

The majority of the game was a pitcher’s duel, combined with timely hitting from O’Hara. The Lions got the best of La Salle right hander Zach Moretski, scoring runs in the second, third, and fourth innings.

Jim White led the Lions with three hits, including two doubles that drove in two runs combined. White had three RBI’s on the day. Luke Zimmerman had an RBI double of his own, smashing one deep to left center field off Moretski that gave the Lions a comfortable 3-1 lead.

Cardinal O’Hara tacked one on in the sixth inning but that was more than was needed for Lions lefty Billy Neal. The senior has been the heart and soul of the Lions rotation all season long, and another stellar performance on Monday was a clear indication he is one of the best pitchers in the Catholic League.

Neal threw all five innings and allowed just one run on 7 hits and 76 total pitches. The senior fooled the Explorers all afternoon long with a variety of off speed pitches that had them guessing at the plate.

Cardinal O’Hara will now face St. Joseph's Prep in the PCL Semifinals Wednesday afternoon at La Salle College High School.
