WYNDMOOR, PENNSYLVANIA – On a sizzling afternoon at La Salle College High School, St. Joseph’s Prep eliminated Cardinal O'Hara from the playoffs in the semifinals with a final score of 14-9. The Hawks advance to play Neumann-Goretti in the Catholic League finals.
It was a game with no shortage of offense, as both teams knocked the stuffing out the ball.
First Inning: Scoreless
Second Inning: Each team scored a run.
Third Inning: Prep gets two runs; O'Hara gets two runs off of a single by Kevin McKeon, George Stewart comes on in relief for Prep and gets a double play out of the bullpen to end the inning, 3-3.
Fourth Inning: Prep gets runners on and capitalizes with doubles from John Coppola and Jeff Manto, picking up two runs; O'Hara has a promising beginning to the inning after back to back walks with no outs, but another double play and a strikeout for Stewart gets them out of it.

Fifth Inning: After an explosive top of the inning for Prep in which they grabbed five runs, O'Hara managed to open the bag of tricks, loaded the bases with no outs and, after an error, a couple of singles, and a sac fly, kept the deficit at two runs, 9-7.
Sixth Inning: A deep double off of the wall for Joe DiProsperos put a jolt into the crowd. After Prep loaded the bases, an error put another run in, followed by back to back singles and a sac fly, breaking this one open, 14-7; O'Hara could not get anything done in their half.
Seventh Inning: Prep goes scoreless in their half; O'Hara shows a little life with a two RBI single from Pete Klein, but can’t complete the comeback. Final: 14-9
"We're the seven seed; Neumann is the five seed," said Prep Head Coach Joe Falcone. "I think [the strategy] is just, 'go play baseball.' Whichever pitchers that are available are going to pitch, and hopefully we'll score more runs than they do. [Today] was interesting, I told our guys that every time they responded, we responded, which was good. I thought our defense was really good and I thought we hit the ball well, obviously, we scored fourteen runs. They made some errors, but I think we capitalized on those errors. Our guys just have to realize that with big leads, they have to throw strikes, work ahead, and not nibble."
