PHILADELPHIA – On July 28th, Roman Catholic’s Crew team was presented with their Philadelphia Catholic League Championship rings.

The Cahillites claimed the PCL title back in April, a feat they haven’t accomplished since 2012. On Saturday, April 23rd, Roman Catholic High School took first place in the Varsity Four, Varsity Doubles, Varsity Lightweight Doubles and Varsity Single races. After a two-month wait, the rowers were finally able to get a peek at their rings.

The entire team was present as Principal Patricia Sticco opened the ring ceremony. Thomas Johnston, President of the Roman Catholic High School Alumni Association, was also in attendance to congratulate the team.

A successful season was credited to the teams’ commitment to the sport.

Each speaker touched on their dedication to a year-long, six days a week practice schedule and a grueling racing season.

Coach Zack Coons was proud of his team, noting that each and every one of them contributed to their Catholic League win.

This is the fourth Catholic League title for Roman Catholic this past year. The crew team joins basketball, soccer and mock trial as champions.
