DREXEL HILL, PA – Archbishop Ryan visited Bonner-Prendie this afternoon at 1:00PM at Upper Darby Senior High School. The match-up was the first non-league meeting for both teams since the updated two-division format of the Philadelphia Catholic League.
Both teams began their seasons on a high note with the Friars winning 30-23 last week vs. Upper Darby and the Raiders taking an impressive 44-7 victory vs. Quakertown.
Today it was Archbishop Ryan who improved to 2-0. The Raiders were led on offense by junior, Jaye McNeil, who had three touchdowns in the contest.
Archbishop Ryan’s head coach, Frank McArdle, explained that his teams’ strong start is a direct result of his players’ diligent work ethic.
“I think a key is our conditioning, we have had a bunch of tough practices in the heat and the kids did a good job of working in the summer,” said McArdle. “I think that is one reason we have been able to run the ball as well as we have.”
Final Score: Ryan 33, Bonner-Prendie 12
Looking Ahead: Bonner-Prendie will host Academy Park this Friday at Upper Darby High School – kickoff is scheduled for 7PM. Archbishop Ryan will move on to face Lansdale Catholic at George Washington High School on Saturday Sept. 10th at 1PM.
