LANSDALE, PA – The Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast field hockey team took the Lansdale Catholic Crusaders by storm on Wednesday afternoon in the league opener with an unstoppable 8-0 win. The Crusaders were unable to catch up with only one shot on goal against the Pandas.

“Accolades to senior captain Riley Dolan, 28, for her ball movement and ball placement throughout the game. She was ‘spot on’ with many of her passes allowing the team to score goals,” said Archbishop Bonner-Prendergast head coach Joanne Dolan.

“Our other senior captain Casey Rafferty #31 contributed solid defensive skills throughout the game allowing Lansdale Catholic to only have one shot on goal. She is a great communicator which is key on defense.”

The Pandas continually cheered on their teammates throughout the entire game and it did not go unheard in the stands.

“I loved the energy and drive of our team as they played to win today against Lansdale Catholic,” said Dolan.

Although the Pandas came out on top with a huge win, they are fully aware of the improvements they still need to make as a team on the field.

“We need to work on playing together on both sides of the ball. We get better every day practicing and correcting our mistakes. From [Wednesday’s] game, I know of three specific areas that we will focus on at our next practice,” said Dolan.

As the season continues, Dolan and her team are looking forward to scoring more goals and winning more games.

“We have a lot of potential on our team. It’s fun thinking about where we could be at the end of the next two months.”

The Crusaders may not have walked away with the win but they are still keeping their heads up, as they know they still have a lot of field hockey left to play.

“It was a tough start to the season but the girls are still optimistic about what will happen the rest of the season. Laura Vetter is a senior who really stood out yesterday, being a really powerful force on the field,” said Lansdale Catholic head coach Alexis Seltey.

My goalie, Claire Crotty, was another big part to our team. She is our stand out goalie,” said Seltey.

Bonner-Prendie’s next league game is at home on Wednesday, September 14th against Archbishop Ryan.
