WYNDMOOR, PA- It only took one strike for the course of Tuesday evening’s PCL matchup between La Salle College High School and Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast to drastically change.

Following a rather uneventful first half, the La Salle Explorers looked like a new team when they returned to the field.

Sixteen minutes in to the second half, senior Michael D’Angelo played a perfect through ball to the on-rushing Anthony Boyle who finished calmly. Not even a minute later, La Salle scored again, this time from D’Angelo. He would go on to score his second of the match minutes later along with Senior Spencer Patton to complete the comfortable 4-0 victory.

Within a span of six minutes, the Explorers led the Friars by four goals.

“Once we got one, we were getting more, we were getting chances, they were getting tired, and we put them away,” said D’Angelo.

While La Salle’s offense exploded, their defense remained steady. Their two clean sheets in the PCL so far can be greatly attributed to junior Goalkeeper Brett Werner. Along with his highlight-reel save in the second half, Werner was instrumental in holding off the Friars' attack.

“Brett bailed us out a couple times in the last couple games,” said La Salle senior defender James Hughes. “It’s great having him back there.”

La Salle looks to extend their win streak 9/16, against Cardinal O’Hara at Lower Bartley Field.

The Friars are on the road, also on Friday, for a conference match against the Roman Catholic Cahillites.
