LANSDALE, PA – The Lansdale Catholic tennis team was on a roll to start the 2016 season. That is, until it ran into Archbishop Carroll. The Patriots beat the Crusaders, 5-0, at Fellowship Park in Lansdale on Tuesday.
LC was 4-0 in league play coming into the matches. But Carroll’s singles line-up won 6 out of 7 games on the way to a sweep, and its doubles teams both won in straight sets. Carroll moves to 3-1 in league play.
“What’s great is we have no seniors in our first seven on the ladder, so I really like the potential,” said new Carroll coach and athletic director Brady Kramer. “It’s a real nice group of girls. They’re all competitors. They all play two or three sports. This is kind of their off-season. A lot of lacrosse kids.”
SINGLES:
Carroll’s Tess Humes, Sara Grosso and Julia Downs all won their matches.
Humes: 7-5, 6-4
Grosso: 4-6, 6-4, 6-1
Downs: 6-2, 6-1
DOUBLES:
The Carroll pairs of Katie Detwiler and Jenna Sala, and Margeaux Pawelec and Keli Lubiejewski both won their matches in straight sets.
Detwiler/Sala: 6-2, 7-5
Pawelec/Lubiejewski: 6-2, 6-2
