CHESTER, PA – Last Friday the St. Joe’s Prep Hawks took on the Father Judge Crusaders in Catholic League play. The Hawks came in with a perfect 5-0 record, while the Crusaders only a 3-4 record. Despite the disparity in records, the stage was set for a hard fought battle under the lights at Quick Stadium on the campus of Widener University.

The game got out to a fast start, when the opening kickoff was returned 60 yards by senior Christian Waller, despite the Crusaders kicking it off short to avoid return threats in Terrance Greene and Richard Carr. After starting with great field position, the Hawks didn’t waste any time finding the end zone.

The Crusaders answered back with a methodical drive down the field to put up 7. From that point on the Hawks took over the game. The Hawks put up 28 unanswered points to take a commanding 35-7 lead. Father Judge was able to score a TD late in the 4th, but the extra point was no good. FINAL 35-13.

Today, the Hawks will look to remain undefeated in a rematch of last years PCL Championship against archrival La Salle. Both the Explorers and the Hawks are undefeated in Catholic League play; however, the Hawks are the heavy favorites in this one and are looking to get paybacks after last years loss. The team will lean on Georgia commit D’Andre Swift to take over the game on the ground, as La Salle will have a tough time trying to game plan to stop him. The stage is set for another classic rivalry game today. Kickoff is at 2:00, and if you can’t make it to the game, make sure to tune in to the St. Joe’s Prep Student Broadcast here.
