BRYN MAWR, PA – The Baldwin School (16-6) defeated visiting Germantown Academy (13-8-1) 3-2 in double overtime in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association girls’ soccer tournament.

The Bears started the game strong and scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes of play. Sophomore forward Gia Vicari netted both goals off assists from junior defender Marissa McGarrey and sophomore center midfielder Celia Page.

Patriots junior forward Mackenzie Pluck scored a goal just before halftime to send the Bears into the half leading 2-1.

After the brief intermission, GA equalized late in the second half off a penalty kick scored again by Pluck.

With the game tied 2-2, both teams went into the first overtime and were unable to capitalize. It wasn’t until one minute remaining in the second OT that Vicari scored her third goal of the game on a breakaway off a through ball pass from Celia Page to give the Bears a 3-2 edge over the Patriots.

Vicari has now totaled 27 goals this season, which gives her Baldwin’s single season scoring record.

Simi Bleznak made 9 saves in goal.

Baldwin is set to host Westtown School in the PAISAA state semifinals this Thursday at 2:30pm.

Springside Chestnut Hill (12-7-1) pulled off an exciting overtime victory against Friends Central.
