PHILADELPHIA – La Salle University’s men’s basketball team faced a devastating one-point loss against Texas Southern with only seconds remaining in their homecoming game before the Thanksgiving holiday. The Explorers looked to end on a more positive note when they matched up against City 6 rival Drexel this past Sunday, November 27, at the Daskalakis Center.

La Salle came out strong in the first half, shooting just over fifty percent from the field. In the last six minutes in the half, the Explorers would go on a 21-4 run to take a commanding 44-27 lead at halftime.

Drexel scored the first four points in the second half, but La Salle quickly recovered by pushing back with an 8-0 run. The Explorers never trailed throughout the entire duration of the game, and would go onto win 89-78.

Other Explorer contributions come from Amar Stukes, of La Salle College High School, who scored 14 points and recorded 7 assists. B.J. Johnson and Pookie Powell both recorded 12 points throughout the game.

La Salle (2-2) will now face Lehigh at Tom Gola Arena tonight at 7:00pm. Drexel (2-4) will matchup at 8pm against Lafayette tonight as well.
