PHILADELPHIA – Yesterday afternoon, Notre Dame Academy traveled to face William Penn Charter in their first league meeting of the 2016-17 winter season.

During the first half of the game, it was the Irish who fought to maintain the lead heading into the half. Notre Dame totaled 17 second quarter points, sending the Quakers into halftime trailing by six.

After the brief intermission, Penn Charter came out on fire scoring 14 third quarter points. Mireyah Davis played a key role in the Quakers comeback, totaling 20 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Penn Charter’s second half momentum proved hard for Notre Dame to overcome, which lead to a final score of 45-33 in favor of the Quakers. Mandy McGurk lead the Irish with 9 points in the contest.

Looking Ahead: Notre Dame (2-2) will travel to face Strath Haven in an out of league match-up on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2:15 pm. Penn Charter will compete in the “Make A Wish” tournament hosted by Germantown Academy on Friday and Saturday.
