PHILADELPHIA-- The Philadelphia Catholic League Wrestling Championship Final will take place at Father Judge High School this Tuesday, January 31st with familiar foes taking the stage once again.

The quarterfinal and semifinal duals were held consecutively on Wednesday, January 25th .  No. 2 seed St. Joseph’s Prep defeated No. 3 seed Archbishop Ryan (38-33) in the quarterfinal round held at Father Judge High School. The Prep then went on to dual current PCL reigning champs No. 1 Father Judge.

The Crusaders easily handled the Hawks clinching the semifinal round (49- 19), giving them the right to defend their PCL Title.

About 20 minutes north, at Hatboro-Horsham High School, No. 3 seed Roman Catholic bested No. 2 seed La Salle College HS (46-24) in their quarterfinal dual.

The No. 1 Vikings proved too much for the Cahillites to handle in the semifinal round. The Vikings finished (49-19) over Roman clinching them a seat in the final championship round.

It will be a familiar scene for both Archbishop Wood and Father Judge as they were in this same spot last year, both competing for the PCL Plague.

Judge won the 2015-16 PCL Title against the Vikings, (32-25).

“Wood is a very tough and talented team. The atmosphere last year at their place was electric. We look forward to having the opportunity to wrestle them again,” said Judge head coach Jim Savage.

“Our athletes enjoy the opportunity to compete,” Savage added when asked how he is preparing his team mentally and physically for this final match.

“We always talk about not worrying about things they can’t control. We try to keep them loose and tell them to have fun out there. If they are having fun and scoring points, good things are going to happen,” said Savage.

Vikings head coach Chris Meister said his team is up to the challenge.

"Our boys know what is at stake. They remember the pain of last year's defeat and they do not what to let that happen again.”

“Each of our wrestlers are hyped to get out on the mat and prove that they are the better wrestler. Everyone knows their role for this match, now they just need to do their job,” said Meister

The PCL Final Championship dual, which is sure not to disappoint, is set to begin at 7p.m.

Below are results and photo galleries from the PCL Quarterfinal and Semifinal duals held on January 25th.
