DREXEL HILL, PA-- This past Friday night, the Pandas of Bonner-Prendie hosted the Cardinal O’Hara Lions  in a PCL matchup, despite the 57-38 loss, the Pandas had much to celebrate.

Before a packed gym, Bonner-Prendie President Dr. John Cooke honored longtime coach Tom Stewart for achieving more than 500 game victories.

Players, past and present, surprised the coach with balloons and accolades as the crowd gave Stewart a standing ovation.  

Stewart, began his coaching career at St. James High School in 1976. After St. James closed, Stewart continued his coaching and teaching career at Bonner-Prendergast.

Two former players, Donny Dodds, (St. James Class of ’78) and Stephanie Graff ’00 recognized Stewart by highlighting what an impact he had on their lives and the lives of so many athletes over the years. A special highlight was the presentation of an engraved basketball to Stewart by members of the 1,000 Point Club.
