Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Boys’ Basketball Tournament Update

In the post-season PAISAA tournament, Episcopal Academy is seeded 3rd; Germantown Academy 4th; Haverford School 7th; Malvern Prep 9th; Penn Charter 12th, and Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy 15th.

EA senior Kyle Virbitsky was pleased that EA was given the highest seed of any Inter-Ac team.

“I think we deserved that,” said Virbitsky. “I know our overall record (16-10) isn't what GA's is (21-6), but when you look at the games we lost this year, they were by very few points and all but two came without either Conner (Delaney) or Nick (Alikakos). When we have both of them, I think we are a very dangerous team, and our record with both of them on the court shows that.”

In the first round on February 15, Episcopal got 20 points from Conner Delaney and 19 from Nick Alikakos to defeat 14th-seed Germantown Friends, 58-43 . . . Kyle McCloskey poured in 33 points and Evan-Eric Longino added 22 to help Germantown Academy stop 13th-seed Academy of the New Church, 66-49 . . . A balanced scoring attack led by Mason Williams’ 20 points, Adam Holland’s 16, Ryan Holmes’ 11, and Mike Hnatkowsky’s 9 lifted Penn Charter past 5th-seed Shipley, 66-54 . . . Malvern Prep dropped a 67-61 decision to 8th-seed Phelps School; Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy lost to 2nd-seed Hill School, 77-53 . . . On February 16, Haverford School erased a six-point halftime deficit and defeated 10th-seed Kiski Prep, 71-64. Kharon Randolph netted 21 points, Jameer Nelson 18, and Christian Ray 17.

In the tourney semifinals, 6th-seed Perkiomen visits Episcopal 2 PM Saturday (February 18). Two hours later, Haverford School visits 2nd-seed Hill School. On February 20, Penn Charter visits Germantown Academy at 6:30.
