TRACK & FIELD: Cardinal O'Hara and La Salle College High School Take First Place At PCL Track & Field Championships

SPRINGFIELD, PA – On Monday May 15, Cardinal O’Hara High School hosted the 2017 Philadelphia Catholic League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Cardinal O’Hara took home the PCL Title for the girls’ track and field events with a combined score of 160. Jesikah Boykin placed second in the 200m dash for the Lady Lions with a time of 26.71. Olivia Arizin (2:13.28) and Christine Mancini (2:19.13) placed 1-2 in the 800m run. Sisters Elizabeth (5:21.26), Eleanor (5:21.57) and Christine Mancini (5:25.52) finished 1-2-3 for O’Hara in the mile. O’Hara’s Erin Daly, Kiki Daly, Jesikah Boykin and Olivia Arizin also took first place in the girls’ 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:05.84.

Neumann-Goretti came in second with a score of 108 and third place went to Archbishop Ryan with a combined score of 80.

La Salle claimed the boys’ PCL Title with a combined events score of 217. Octavious Carter placed first in the 100m dash with a time of 11.05. Stephen Paul won gold in the 3200m run (9:44.01). Alex Sislo placed first in the long jump at 22-08.25. The Explorers also placed second in the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 4x100 meter relay and in the 4x400 meter relay. 

St. Joseph's Prep came in second with a combined score of 102 followed by Father Judge with a combined score of 46.

The event started off strong with the girls’ 100-meter dash. Jewel Ford from Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast set a new school record and also defended her title in this event with a time of 12.23.

St. Joe’s Prep junior, Miles Green, was named the PCL Boys’ Most Valuable Running Performer. Green set a PCL record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 38.08 to replace the record previous set by Father Judge’s Jermaine Lowery in 2008. Green also broke the PCL record in the 400m dash with a time of 47.56. The record was previously set in 2001 by Travis Yancy from Roman Catholic.

Neumann-Goretti sophomore Makayla Perry and senior Sydni Townsend split the PCL title of Girls’ Most Valuable Running Performers. Perry placed first in the 200m dash (25.30) as well as in the 400m dash (56.24). Townsend won both the 100m hurdles (15.28) and 300m hurdles (45.56)

La Salle senior Noah Walker took home the title of Boys’ Most Valuable Field Performer. Walker took first place in the shot put (50-1), discus (157-0) and javelin (183-2).

Neumann-Goretti senior Janese Lynch claimed the Girls’ Most Valuable Field Performer after setting two PCL meet records in the discus (132-00) and shot put (43-04).
