Sam Swart Post-Game Interview:

Owen J Roberts took a little bit longer to turn the heat up, but after some motivational words from head coach Joe Tornetta, they were able to get up on the board with a goal at 5:28 scored by Anna Dempsey. The Wildcats went on to score one more goal in the first half making the score 8-2 at the half.

Swart scored another quick goal to ignite the Patriots offense in the second half. Following Swart was yet another goal by D’Orsogna. The Wildcats answered back with a goal from Eloise Gebert.

Owen J Roberts went on to score two more goals, by Kelsey Kilgallon  and Sydney Drumheller. But it was not enough to stop Carroll’s powerful offense.

Even though Owen J Roberts fell short to Archbishop Carroll, coach Tornetta touted his team’s hard fought season.

“We played a tough team, we didn’t get the outcome we wanted but I couldn’t be more proud of my team,” said Tornetta.

Swart, a Syracuse University commit, went on to score a total of 9 goals; eight of these goals were unassisted.

Swart wasn’t the only standout player of the game. Sydney D’Orsogna, Katie Detwiler, and Grace Gallagher all contributed to the Patriots 15 scored goals. Goalkeeper Madelyn Ferraioli was on her “A” game making incredible saves for her team.

Head coach of the Patriots, Lorraine Beers applauded Ferraioli for giving her team the confidence that they needed so early in the game.

“She [Ferraioli] obviously had some amazing saves in the beginning,” said Beers. “So that gave us the time and the confidence to then take it down and be disciplined on offense, on attack and score some goals.”

With this win, the Archbishop Carroll Patriot’s made school history by advancing on to the semi-final round of the PIAA AAA state tournament. Carroll’s girls’ lacrosse team has never made it this far, and Beers hopes to make it all the way.

“It’s very nice, it’s been a long time coming,” said Beers. “This is a great team.”

Looking Ahead: Archbishop Carroll will take on Garnet Valley Tuesday, June 6 at West Chester Henderson High School at 2 pm.
