Importance: West Catholic is in must-win mode for the rest of the season and still has an outside chance of tying for the Catholic League Blue Division title. Bonner-Prendergast has a chance to play spoiler while winning its first league game.

All-Time Record: Bonner-Prendergast leads, 27-21-3.

Bonner-Prendergast Notes: Before losing to Neumann-Goretti last week, the Friars had snapped a five-game losing streak thanks to a 20-16 win over Bishop McDevitt . . . The Friars have scored seven touchdowns this fall, five of them via the legs of Kyrin Jackson. The senior has also caught 22 passes for 369 yards . . . Junior Shon Nelson (28 completions, 4 touchdowns) and sophomore Michael Stander (17, 2) have split QB duties . . . Stander is coming off a decent performance against N-G (11 for 21, 66 yards, touchdown) . . . B-P’s secondary has intercepted three passes.

West Catholic Notes: Heading into their Homecoming contest, the Burrs have won three of their last four . . . West gave N-G fits before succumbing, 20-6 . . . Junior Jacir Savoy has been on fire. In this last four games, Savoy has rushed for 517 yards and eight touchdowns on 88 carries . . . Senior quarterback Da’Vion Kidd-Jackson is a dual threat, with 466 yards and three touchdowns passing, and 469 yards and five touchdowns rushing . . . Junior Seth Degree has caught 10 passes for 255 yards and two scores . . . The B-P defense has four thefts to their credits . . . Key sophomore guard and nose tackle Rickquan Rivera returns after a two-game absence to injury.

Friar Chat: “I am a firm believer that every single game is important, whether it’s non-league or Catholic League play,” said senior defensive back, receiver, and special teams ace Ryan Beck. “Personally, as a senior and captain of our team, I can say that this year has been an uphill battle, but we never give up. This West Catholic team we are facing this week is a very well coached program, and I know that they’re gonna come out of the gate swinging. But we’re going to punch them right back in the mouth as well. Last year was a dogfight with West, and it came down to the final minutes of the game, and I expect nothing less for this year’s game. Winning this game would really turn the tables for us, as well as many heads, and give people a new perspective of who Bonner Football really is. This game is personal to me. This isn’t even a game to me. This is an absolute war. It’s going to be 48 very long minutes.”

“This year has been kind of a down year,” said senior two-way tackle Mike Killian. “It's important that we win this game because we need to lift the underclassmen's spirits and prepare them for next year. At the beginning of every season, every kid wants to win, and that was my attitude at the beginning, too. But as the season went on, we faced many obstacles, mostly injuries. But my brothers and I still stuck together and persevered through our highs and lows. Coming off a tough loss last week, we are hungry for a win as a team collectively. All the players and staff are dying to get this win. This game is crucial in keeping our spirits up. This team deserves it, and we can do it. There is no other group of guys I'd rather go to war with. I can trust them with all my heart. So on Friday, if and when we win, I believe it's a huge step in preparing the program for next year.”

Burr Chat: “This game is very important because we're currently in third place in our division behind Neumann-Goretti and Cardinal O’Hara, and in order to get a good playoff seeding, we need to win every game from here on out,” said senior defensive end and kick returner Keith Jenkins. “When we played Neumann two weeks ago, we were missing three of our starters. If we don't win this game we probably won't make the playoffs.”

“Extremely important to our hope of making the (Division 12 versus Division 1) sub-regional playoffs,” said coach Brian Fluck. “We can’t afford a loss this late into the season. We need to win our last three games of the season to secure the playoff spot, starting with Bonner-Prendie.”

Prediction: While Bonner-Prendergast’s enthusiasm is commendable, West Catholic has too much at stake. The Burrs’ hopes of a division crown live another week after a physically taxing 28-7 victory.
