VOLLEYBALL: Lansdale Catholic, Archbishop Carroll, Archbishop Wood & Cardinal O'Hara Rally-On to the PCL Semis (All-Catholic Teams Included)

Philadelphia Catholic League Girls’ Volleyball Quarterfinal Results & All-Catholic Teams:

MATCH: No. 3 Cardinal O'Hara vs. No. 6 Archbishop Ryan 0

RESULTS: The Lady Lions defeated the Ragdolls in three straight sets: 25-8, 25-16, 25-12.

NOTE WORTHY: During the second set, Cardinal O’Hara senior Breanna Hickey recorded her 171st ace, setting O’Hara’s all-time career record in aces served. Hickey ended the night with two more aces, giving her an all-time current total of 173.

STATS: O’Hara: Maeve Boylan – 4 kills, 7 aces, 10 digs, 16 assists. Breanna Hickey – 6 kills, 4 aces, 8 digs. Lauren Garvey - 6 kills, 4 aces, 2 digs, 1 block. Reagan Hickey – 8 kills, 1 dig, 4 assists. Emma Knaub – 3 kills, 2 blocks.

Senior Spotlight: For the past two years, Archbishop Ryan senior Jackie Schaeffer has not only been showcasing her talents on the court for the Ragdolls, but also on the web as a Junior Reporter for Philly Sports Digest! Jackie is planning to pursue a degree in journalism from either Temple University or Duquesne University. From all of us at PSD, we thank you Jackie for all of your contributions and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

After the match, Schaeffer lauded her team’s effort in their quarterfinal match-up against O’Hara.

“I’m so proud of how hard we worked today, sadly we didn’t get the outcome that we wanted, but Cardinal O’Hara is a very tough team,” said Schaeffer. “I’m so happy to see that our team has progressed so much this season and I hope that they continue to do so next season.”

MATCH: No. 2 Archbishop Wood 3, No. 7 John W. Hallahan 0

RESULTS: The Lady Vikings defeated the Mickey Mouse in three sets, 25-11, 25-19, 29-27.

STATS: Wood: Laura Prajzner – 6 aces. Shauna Matthews – 3 aces, 9 digs. Molly Prior – 22 Hits, 12 kills, 4 blocks. Shauna Matthews – 32 Hits, 7 kills, 9 digs. Megan Noonan – 8 digs. Izzy McCormick – 8 digs. Cara Coughlin – 7 digs, 25 assists. Bella Straface – 7 digs.

LOOKING AHEAD: No. 2 Archbishop Wood will play No. 3 Cardinal O’Hara on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in the PCL semifinal. The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Archbishop Wood. The winner will advance to the PCL final on Sunday, Oct. 29 at Neumann-University at 6 p.m.

MATCH: No. 1 Archbishop Carroll 3, No. 8 Bonner-Prendie 0

RESULTS: The Lady Patriots of Archbishop Carroll topped the Pandas in three sets, 25-10, 25-12, 25-5.

STATS: Bonner-Prendie: Natalie Claffey – 15 digs.  Dakota McCaughan -15 digs. Madison Oxenberg - 1 kill, 3 blocks.  Lindsay Fagan – 4 kills, 1 block, 9 assists, 8 digs. Ariana McGeary – 3 kills, 1 block. Sam Lachette – 2 kills, 2 blocks. Shannon Durkin – 1 kill, 2 blocks.  Alex Bilotta – 6 digs.

MATCH: No. 4 Lansdale Catholic 3, No. 5 St. Hubert 0

RESULTS: The Crusaders defeated the Bambies in three sets, 26-24, 25-15, and 25-14.

STATS: Lansdale Catholic: Corinne Coonahan – 11 kills, 4 aces. Emily Freer – 10 kills. Maile Erwin – 5 aces, 12 digs. Tori Rogge – 14 assists. Shannon Bagnell – 14 assists. 

St. Hubert’s: Brenna Carley – 11 assists, 3 kills. Emily Holmes – 1 ace, 1 kill, 6 digs. Izzy Anderson – 1 ace, 10 digs. Emily Black – 7 kills, 1 dig, 1 block. Grace Brighter – 3 kills.
