PHILADELPHIA – The Archbishop Ryan Ragdolls played two league games last week, defeating Conwell Egan at home 58- 24 and then coming away with a road victory at Bishop McDevitt 71-46.  Senior Annie Cashman led the Ragdolls in scoring at McDevitt adding 17 points. It was a team victory with eight members chipping in points.

The Ragdolls’ season ends with a string of very tough Catholic league opponents.  Cardinal O’Hara visits Ryan on Jan. 23 and the Ragdolls play away at Neumann-Goretti on Thursday Jan. 25.

“I’m thinking that all of these teams are very talented and very well coached, but so are we and if we play to the best of our ability, we should come out on top,” said senior Caela Russell. “But it is very important when playing these tough teams that we focus in on finishing out the 4th quarter strong, making foul shots, reducing turnovers, and boxing out. If we do all of those things and play strong with confidence, we will be very successful.”

The team added another win to the record on Sunday night over York Catholic at The University of the Sciences. The final was 62-51 to enhance the Ragdoll's record to 17-0.

The basketball team members are very excited to be part of setting a school record.

“It feels amazing. Especially because we tried so hard to do it. Last year we tried to break the record and we came just a game short. I think now we’re one step closer to the many goals we have,” said junior Shayne Glenn.

The Ragdolls are currently in first place in Catholic League play with a 7-0 record, followed by Neuman-Goretti at 5-0.  Archbishop Wood, Bonner-Prendie, Archbishop Carroll, Cardinal O'Hara and Lansdale Catholic tag closely behind, garnering only one or two PCL losses.
