GIRLS' SOCCER: Philadelphia Catholic League Weekly Review

This past week in PCL Girls’ Soccer:

Conwell Egan (1-3) gave Archbishop Wood (5-0) a challenge as they drove the Vikings into overtime. Sophomore Leighann Kafel made the goal to secure the 4-3 win for Wood.

Little Flower (5-0) secured a 1-0 overtime victory against the Lady Lions of Cardinal O'Hara off a goal by Allie Boginer. 

Bonner-Prendergast defeated Neumann-Goretti 3-2 also in overtime.

Archbishop Wood remains undefeated in Philadelphia Catholic League play. So far, the Lady Vikings have recorded four shutouts this season against Bonner-Prendie, Neumann-Goretti, St. Hubert's and Bishop McDevitt.  Conwell Egan challenged Wood during an overtime thriller on Sept. 17. However, the Vikings managed to pull away with a 4-3 victory.

Wood will face tough opponent Lansdale Catholic this coming Thursday at home.

Defending PCL Champions Archbishop Ryan had 3 shutouts in the start of the season losing to Lansdale Catholic 1-2 Thursday. The Ragdolls will be tested once again as they face tough opponent Archbishop Wood Monday night (Sept. 24) at Veterans Field in Southampton, PA. Game time is at 7 p.m..

Games to keep an eye on this week:

Little Flower vs. Lansdale Catholic Sept. 24. 3:45 p.m. at Lansdale Catholic.

Little Flower is a force to be reckoned with this season as the Sentinels have been excelling on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Little Flower has had five shutouts so far this season against Bonner-Prendie (6-0), Hallahan (3-0), St. Hubert's (5-0), Cardinal O'Hara (1-0 OT) and Neumann-Goretti (10-0).

Lansdale Catholic vs. Archbishop Wood, Sept. 27 3:45 p.m. at Wood. The last time these two teams met was in the 2017 PCL semifinals. The Crusaders won 3-2 before facing Archbishop Ryan in the title match.
