PHILADELPHIA -On Friday, Oct. 26, the William Penn Charter boys’ soccer team set their sights on undefeated Episcopal Academy. In a thrilling yet close match Penn Charter pulled off the upset by edging out Episcopal 1-0.

The game winning goal was scored by a junior by the name of Jude Shorr-Parks. When asked how he felt about the win after the game, he was all smiles.

“One out of ten I’m gonna have to give that a ten, great feeling,” said Shorr-Parks.

This was a monumental win for Penn Charter, rebounding from their 2-1 loss to Episcopal earlier in the season. Penn Charter head coach Bob DiBenedetto had some words after the game discussing the rebound from their last match-up.

“I thought that we had a chance to beat them earlier in the year to come back and play this hard, I’m really happy for them,” said DiBenedetto.

Post Game Interview with WPC's Jude Shorr-Parks:

Episcopal Academy falls to 13-1-3 after this first loss. Health has been a significant problem for their squad. When asked how they can rebound from this loss, head coach David Knox said getting healthy was the main focus.

“We just talked about getting healthy we’re a little banged up, so we need to take the weekend to recover and recuperate,” said Knox. “Put it in the rearview mirror and look to get going again on Tuesday.”

The game was filled with terrific defense and strong play by both goalies. Both sides had trouble generating offense until late in the game when Shorr-Parks was able to muster up the one and only goal.

Going forward, Penn Charter looks to continue their success against Malvern Prep. When asked how he feels about his team the rest of the season, Shorr-Parks had nothing but positives to say about his Quakers.

“Six left, six wins, I’m calling it now six wins left,” said Shorr-Parks.
