PHILADELPHIA -The return of Viking’s starting quarterback Jack Coylar got off to a rocky start for Archbishop Wood football.

“Any kid that has that long of a break you are going to expect, some kind of rust. He has not seen game action in two months now. You know, yea he will be fine,” said Archbishop Wood coach Kyle Adkins.

Archbishop Wood vs. Father Judge Game Highlights:

Post Game Interview with Wood head coach Kyle Adkins:

Tom Santiago had a big game for Archbishop Wood offensively. The star back had three big scores and many break out runs en route to a 31-14 victory. He helped shoulder the load while Coylar was working through his rust throughout the game. He even had a near miss pick six in the first quarter that was called back for defensive holding in the secondary.

“I saw the ball get tipped it up and just went for it and then I was in the end zone, I was a little annoyed about the flag, but we won so who cares?” said Santiago.

On the other side Father Judge was in the game through half time leading 14-13 before things fell apart. A bright side for them was Shane McGovern who snared a pick, which he almost took to the house, along with a go-ahead touchdown as time expired at the half.

“Yea we can take a positive out of this we were up at half time we got a playoff game next week against La Salle we played good against them the first time, we just got to keep doing what we do,” said McGovern.

Father Judge has a playoff game against La Salle College High School (4-5) on Friday. Moving forward Archbishop Wood has a playoff game in two weeks against Archbishop Ryan (7-3) who is coming off a shellacking to Saint Joe’s Prep.
